Cheri Garvin
President and CEO, Leesburg Pharmacy
Cheri Garvin has seen her role evolve in her tenure at Leesburg Pharmacy.
Hired as a pharmacy technician in the 1980s, Garvin would work at the pharmacy while completing her training as a pharmacist. She would hold that position for a number of years, before moving out of the area for almost a decade. Upon her return to the area in 2001, Garvin was soon back at her old stomping grounds and would soon fill a larger role at the pharmacy. She became manager and, in 2004, Garvin and her fellow employees purchased 40 percent of the company from founder Bruce Roberts. Just last year, Garvin and two other pharmacists would purchase the remaining 60 percent of the company, and she now holds the title of president and CEO.
Garvin said the employees at the pharmacy think of it as “a hometown pharmacy”, providing services needed for the local community.
Although quick to rave more about her place of business and its success, Garvin’s climb to the top of the pharmacy ladder is certainly worth noting.
“I never envisioned I would be doing this, but the opportunities kind of presented themselves,” she said. “I’ve found it’s best to keep an open mind. Some really good things have happened that I never would have guessed would happen.”
